Levelling the Playing Field with FSET
With the steadfast belief that everyone should have access to high-speed broadband and its inherent opportunities and benefits, FSET envisions a not-so-distant future in which every remote Indigenous community and rural municipality in need of Starlink technology, has access to it.
In collaboration with Pikangikum First Nation and SpaceX, FSET was honoured and humbled to be a part of the first community wide Canadian client. Since that time the company has been hard at work and immediate installation plans now include many more communities across Northern Ontario, with hopes to
do the same in Manitoba and other communities across Canada who are in need.
Harnessing the Speed & Efficiency of Starlink
Starlink is a revolutionary satellite service from buzz worthy entrepreneur Elon Musk. Through a constellation of proprietary satellites more than 60 times closer to Earth than traditional satellites, Starlink offers low latency (the time it takes to send data from one point to another) and high-speed broadband, without costly, time- consuming ground infrastructure.
With quick, simple installation, even the most remote communities can have dedicated, fast, reliable and cost-effective connections within weeks! A vast contrast to the 3–4-year process of legacy terrestrial-based offerings without disrupting the land or environment in any way.
Increasing Opportunities for Self-Sovereignty & Independence
Today, reliable internet is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. For far too long rural and Indigenous communities removed from urban centres have struggled to create opportunities for their members, who are held back from their inherent journey to self-empowerment, due to a lack of access to the wider world.
These fast, dependable connections allow for social interaction, personal entertainment, professional online learning and life-saving social services. And those are just the tangibles. The true power of high-speed broadband is connection, exploration, and the chance to grow and dream.
Transforming Remote Education, Healthcare, Social & Legal Services
While Starlink satellite has incredible potential for individuals, in helping to heal the body, mind and soul, it is an absolute revelation for remote communities. Reliable service allows for real-time connection with the outside world. Experts become teachers, banks become lenders, organizations become partners.
The spin-off and benefits are truly transformational for these communities and will create an immense impact on the way they communicate, do business, express themselves, share ideas and contribute to the wider world. The implications on education, healthcare, social services, law and justice are profound.
Creating a Platform for Remote Voices to be Heard
As part of its vision to empower First Nations and others through innovation and technology, FSET has endeavored to launch Boozhoo.ca and invite everyone to join along in these journeys together. The website and communication portal will serve as a space for storytelling and collaboration on innovative and forward thinking ideas.
Crowd-sourced knowledge, creativity and self-exploration will be available in a number of mediums, including videos, podcasts, forums, and more. Boozhoo means “hello!” or “greetings!” in Ojibwe, and FSET is proud to host this dynamic platform to introduce the world to the unique voices and experiences of those
living in Canada’s most remote regions.
Aligning with Like-Minded Sponsors
Remote First Nations and rural municipalities across the country are poised and ready, with stories in hand, to take their place on the world stage. Boozhoo provides the platform and, as a subject matter expert in Starlink satellite services, FSET brings the audience from around the globe.
FSET is excited to partner with corporate sponsors, levels of government and social agencies to connect with First Nations and create momentous change for communities and individuals.

CHANGING LIVES
In late November 2020, FSET installed satellite services for the first SpaceX Starlink client in Canada, Pikangikum First Nation, a remote fly-in community in Northern Ontario. Having reliable, high-speed connectivity has already changed the community’s education, healthcare and social services.
