KENORA, ONTARIO – FSET Information Technology is proud to bring its satellite installation services to remote Indigenous communities, as a servicing partner of Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink Rapid Response program.

“Internet isn’t just a luxury, it’s a need,” says FSET CEO David Brown. “Access to technology and information allows these communities to shape their path and future, and achieve independence.”

Last December, FSET installed satellite services for the first SpaceX Starlink client in Canada, Pikangikum First Nation, a fly-in community in Northern Ontario. Having reliable, high-speed connectivity has already changed the community’s education, healthcare and social services. FSET has immediate plans to connect five more First Nations in the area to Starlink satellite, and aims to install in remote Manitoban communities and beyond.

In addition to these life-changing satellite installation services, FSET is launching Boozhoo.ca. The website and communications portal will serve as a space to reach out and build community, both with other remote First Nations and with the broader Canadian public. Boozhoo, which means “hello” in Ojibwe, will host crowd-sourced videos, podcasts, blogs, forums and more.

The platform is generating interest from corporate sponsors, government, First Nations organizations, and social service agencies that want to support the vision of innovation empowering communities and people. Thanks to the quick setup of Starlink, which has communities connected within weeks instead of years, Boozhoo will soon be providing creative outlets and connections; links to partners in child welfare, justice, healthcare, economic development and government; and helping to improve all areas of life for users.

“Not only are we bringing information into these communities and homes, we’re helping those people bring their stories to us,” says Brown. “At this point in history, Canadians want to hear from Indigenous people in these isolated spaces. Elders have important things to say, young people have that strong desire to connect, and we’re offering that platform. It’s really exciting.”

Based in Kenora Ontario, FSET specializes in progressive technology-based solutions, offering management and operational improvement services to agencies, First Nations and enterprise organizations. FSET is a SpaceX Starlink installer, the only VMware solutions provider (VSP) in Northwestern Ontario holding both Cloud and Hybrid competencies, and one of only six companies across Canada with the Managed Mobility competency to deliver AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management solutions.
